A late 17th-Century 2¾-inch diameter German ivory celestial globe,
unsigned but engraved on the base ANNO 1680, the equatorial graduated in twice twelve hours, with half-hour subdivisions, the ecliptic divided every 30° with sigils for the houses of the Zodiac, also with an opposite ecliptic line marked, lines for the polar circles and tropics and twenty-four meridian lines, with a pointed brass finial, raised at the angle of the ecliptic on a baluster-turned column and circular plinth base (connection loose; small chip to base of column), the upper surface of the base engraved with NORD, WEST, SVD and OST, the side of the base with an opening for a drawer and a circular aperture on the underside -- 17.7cm. (7in.) high
