Lot Essay

An écuelle 'ronde tournée' et son plateau 'rond', 3eme graundeur also painted by Méreaud le jeune with virtually the same decoration apart from the addition of crossed palm fronds below the frises riches border is in the Wallace Collection. See Rosalind Savill, The Wallace Collection, Catalogue of Sèvres Porcelain, London, 1988, vol. II, no. C430-1.

Charles-Louis Méreaud, le jeune, is recorded at Sèvres as a painter specializing in flowers and patterns 1756-1780.
