Sugata [configuration]: honzukuri, iori-mune, extended chu-kissaki, shallow toriizori

Kitae [forging pattern]: itame with mokume, jinie, utsuri

Hamon [tempering pattern]: kogunome in suguha with ashi
Boshi [tip]: ko-maru

Horimono [carvings]: bohi with soehi on both sides

Nakago [tang]: o-suriage, kiri file marks, two holes (one plugged)

Habaki [collar]: double, copper-gilt

In shirasaya [plain wood scabbard]

Nagasa [length from tip to beginning of tang]: 69.8cm.

Sori [curvature]: 0.8cm.

Motohaba [width at start of tempered edge]: 3.2cm.

Sakihaba [width before tip]: 2.3cm.

Lot Essay

Although the registration document states Naoe for this blade, the characteristics are somewhat indicative of the Unrui School of Bizen, which continued from the late Kamakura Period for three or more generations during the Nambokucho Period.
