A DETAILED EARLY 19TH CENTURY NAPOLEONIC FRENCH PRISONER-OF-WAR BONE MODEL OF A 40-GUN FIFTH RATE
with masts, yard and stun's'l booms, standing and running rigging, polychrome warrior-form figurehead, catheads, water buckets, carved head and main rails, metal anchors with bone stocks, belaying rails and pins, cleats, capstan, water barrels, hammock racks, well deck with mesh balustrade and boat awnings, belfry, compass boxes, double helm, deck lights, chicken coops and other details. The planked and pinned hull with baleen main and secondary wales, chain plates and deadeyes, carved stern and quarter galleries, retractable cannons, three ship's boats out-rigged with painted oars over, stern gun cords with togs and rudder, is mounted on two bone chocks on an inlaid wooden display board and secured with a wood-bound glazed case. Overall measurements -- 17 x 22in. (43 x 56cm.)
