CIRCA 1785-95
Enamelled on each side with a three-masted ship bearing the Danish flag at the stern and with human figure prow, three small European figures visible on the deck, divided by floral sprigs, the interior with a floral spray at the centre and a band of puce scale-pattern at the rim, rim chips restored, rim hairline crack
9 1/8 in. (23.2 cm.) diam.

Lot Essay

A bowl with very similar decoration, but with the ship flying the Swedish flag, was in the Mottahedeh Collection, illustrated by Howard and Ayers, China for the West, London and New York, 1978, vol. I, p. 225, no. 223.
