Lot Essay

Lieutenant-Colonel Charles Morgan, 2nd Bt. (1760-1846) was Member of Parliament for Brecon (1787-1796) and for Monmouth (1796-1831) and was president of Equitable Life Assurance Society, in succession to his father, from 1806 until his death in 1846. Like his father he channelled family money into a wide variety of financial, commercial and industrial projects. Another portrait of him by Henry Perronet Briggs is at Tredegar House.
