A LARGE MEZCALA STONE FIGURE, TYPE M-26 VARIANT
Late Preclassic, ca. 300-100 B.C.
The standing effigy distinguished in its attempt at human portraiture, the arms separated from the torso with fingers placed at the abdomen, the impressive head bent slightly forward with wide and flat facial plane, softly sunken eyes and mouth and deep grooves for the ears; in pale green-grey andesite.
