Dresden, circa 1730/1740
Cartouche-shaped brown agate box with rust-red veins, bevelled cover and base, the lid applied with a chased gold scene depicting a monkey seated in a swing hung between two silver-mounted old-mine but diamond columns, on a gold base chased with a basket of flowers on a socle with two Rococo scrolls below, the reeded gold mounts centred by a raised foliate thumbpiece, above five engraved gold pelmets
