Lot Essay

William Friedrich Karl, son of Frederick I and his first wife Augusta of Brunswick-Wolfenbüttel, married Charlotte of Bavaria in 1808 (and was divorced in 1814) and secondly Catherine Paulovna, Grand Duchess of Russia in 1816 and thirdly Pauline of Württemberg (see following lot) in 1820.
