VERDI, Giuseppe. Two autograph letters signed to Giulio Ricordi, Genoa, 6 February and 18 March 1891, 2 pages, 8vo; envelopes.
In February, Verdi writes that he had planned to be in Milan the next day, before going to Sant'Agata for three or four days, and then a return to Milan to see Ricordi 'per parlare un po' a lungo del noto affare' [to talk somewhat at length about the familiar business]. But Ricordi's telegram 'sospende per ora la nostra gita' [suspends our tour for the moment], and they will probably not be in town until after the Carnival. In March, he writes that someone has, without being asked, sent Peppina two valuable books, and he asks Ricordi to send someone to pay the import tax of 25 lire. (2)
