A PAIR OF GREEK GOLD EARRINGS
HELLENISTIC PERIOD, CIRCA 3RD CENTURY B.C.
Each with a sheet disk centered by a filigree rosette, a granule in the center, the perimeter with filigree ropes, plain wire and beaded wire, with a ribbon flange, the disk supporting a twisted conical pendant with three beaded wires arranged spirally, the upper edge with beaded wire framed on either side by plain wire, from which descend filigree tongues, the pendants with a beaded tip, a small rosette at the join of the disk to the pendant, the hooked ear wire on the reverse now shortened and joined to modern ear posts
