A George III mahogany longcase clock, early 19th century
The breakarch hood with brass finials, outset reeded columns, the onion arch trunk door flanked by canted angles, the plain plinth raised above a wavy skirting, the 12in. white painted dial with floral spandrels to a Roman chapter ring, with subsidiary seconds ring and arch date aperture, signed John Barnett/Plymouth, pierced hands (detached minute), the arch painted with a scene of a hotel beside a river with a suspension bridge in the background, with false plate stamped WASBROUGH HALE & CO. to the eight day movement with four pillars, anchor escapement and rack strike on bell -- 91in. (231cm.) high
