A George III mahogany longcase clock, circa 1800
The hood with swan neck cresting with painted mock verre eglomisé panels below, outset reeded columns, the wavy arch trunk door with crossbanding and flanked by reeded three-quarter pilasters, the shortened plinth on bracket feet, the 14in, wide white painted dial with shell spandrels to the Roman and Arabic chapter ring with dot minute track, subsidiary seconds to the centre, with painted rolling moon to the arch above, with false plate to the eight day movement with four pillars, anchor escapement and rack strike on bell -- 87in. (201cm.) high
