A Victorian mahogany longcase regulator, mid 19th century
The arched case with glazed movement viewing doors above glazed side panels, with recessed panel to the plinth, with foliate carved apron (replaced) to the 11½in. diameter silvered dial of regulator format, blued steel hands (lacking hour), signed Gillets London and numbered 2465, the substantial eight day movement with five large front and back screwed pillars, wheels with six crossings, the deadbeat escapement with jewelled pallets, maintaining power, with glass jar mercury pendulum swinging against a silvered beatscale; brass weight --76¼in. (194cm.) high
