A George III large mahogany, satinwood-lined and brass-mounted quarter-chiming pedestal clock, circa 1790
The balloon-shaped case with ball finial to waisted pediment with silk-backed cast brass trellis and flowerhead sound frets to front and sides, carved wood rear frets, with brass handles to the sides and on brass bracket feet, the white enamel Roman and Arabic dial with pierced steel diamond hands and signed PATRICK HUTTON/LONDON, strike/silent lever by 5, the eight day triple chain fusee movement with shaped plates, with anchor escapement, hour strike on large bell and quarters on a nest of ten bells, trip repeat, with repeat signature to the back plate, the steel rod pendulum with unusually shaped brass bob -- 29½in. (75cm.) high; with a purpose-made mahogany and satinwood line inlaid pedestal, of tapering form and with panelled front, modern -- 48½in. (123cm.) high (2)
