FIRST EDITION. "The book is rather an absolutely independent work, quite different from and unrelated to the author's large anatomy. Its subject is the textures of the different parts of the human body as compared with the texture of the organs of animals and plants. It contains a great number of different figures, most of which are intended to illustrate Mascagni's view as to the vascular nature of the texture of organs. The work is beautifully printed, the very fine title-vignette shows a portrait of Mascagni..." (Choulant-Frank, pp.316). Wellcome IV, p.73.
