MARILYN MONROE SIGNED CHECK

A personal check signed by Marilyn Monroe for $85.85 made out to her maid Hazel Washington on November 7, 1959. Drawn on the Colonial Trust Company, the check bears Monroe's ornate signature, and underneath is written "Marilyn Monroe Productions, Inc." On verso the tax deductions have been carefully itemized, reading in part "Salary: $110.00 $1.10 Sta. Dis. Ins. 2.75 Fed. Ins. Contr. Act." Earlier that year Monroe's best known film Some Like It Hot (Ashton) was released for which Monroe won the Golden Globe Award for Best Motion Picture Actress in a Musical Comedy.
