VERNON PRESLEY'S INTERNATIONAL DRIVER'S LICENSE
1958
A German driver's license issued to Elvis Presley's father Vernon Presley. The front cover is dated December 9, 1958 with Vernon's signature in blue ink. Elvis entered the army in March 1958 where he began basic training at Fort Hood, Texas. In August, he took a leave of absence when his mother became ill. She died on August 14, the day after Elvis arrived home. Thereafter, Elvis returned to the army and was sent to West Germany where he rented a house in Bad Nauheim, a spa town in central Germany where his father, grandmother and friends resided with him. This license was issued to Vernon around this time.
