JOHN LENNON DRESSING KIT GIVEN TO HIM BY THE BEATLES AND BRIAN EPSTEIN
1962
A dressing kit owned by John Lennon, given to him and Cynthia Lennon as a wedding gift from George Harrison, Paul McCartney and The Beatles' manager Brian Epstein. The black leather dressing kit is embossed in gold with Lennon's initials, "JWL," and contains several items including a chromium plated mirror, a bottle opener, an empty glass aftershave bottle, a nylon bristle hairbrush, a plastic portable toothbrush and a metal Gillette razor. In a separate compartment of the kit is a well used silver plate ashtray engraved "Good luck John & Cynthia from Brian, Paul & George 23 Aug 62." Also present is a letter on Apple letterhead (with Apple watermark), reading in part, "The much traveled little dish, a gift from Brian Epstein, was used by the boys as an ashtray, and given to Mal (Evans) as a memento when for obvious reasons it became surplus to John's requirements."
