A MEISSEN TEABOWL AND SAUCER
CIRCA 1730, BLUE CROSSED SWORDS MARKS, GILDER'S T. ·· MARKS AND DREHER'S MARKS TO BOTH
Each side of the teabowl painted in Schwarzlot with vignettes, one with a harbour scene with figures, packages and a tower before distant galleons and ships, the other with figures in a wooded landscape, within shaped quatrefoil gilt cartouches with Böttger-lustre panels edged with puce and and brown foliage, the cartouches joined at the sides by panels with small vignettes, one surmounted by a cat, the interior with purple indianische Blumen within a double concentric circle cartouche below a gilt Laub-und-Bandelwerk border, the saucer with a Schwarzlot harbour scene within a similar cartouche and border, the underside with three purple sprays of indianische Blumen, gilt line rims (some areas of wear to gilding, saucer with hairline crack at 8 o'clock)
