CIRCA 1735, TRACES OF BLUE CROSSED SWORDS MARK
In the form of a bound tub with pierced lug handles, the centre decorated loosely in the Oriental manner in enamels and gilding with horizontal bands of flowering branches, the oval shallow-domed cover with an indentation at each end, the central elongated scrolling pierced handle flanked by four bouquets of flowers and fruit within scalloped iron-red band cartouches with gilt scrolls, divided by triangular blue scroll and hatched panels, and with shaped yellow panels of scale ornament at the ends, within a double red line and gilt line rim (areas of minute wear to gilding, tub with minute chipping to rim)
