ALBERT ODMARK NOTES
Purchased Sotheby's, 26 April, 1971, lot 141.

The pirouette escapement was designed to reduce shock to the gear train by having a second balance wheel rotating in each direction and permanently engaged with the first by wheel and pinion. Samuel Smith was known to have worked in London and Coventry and an example of his pirouette escapement is in the Ilbert Collection.
