With serpentine legs joined by baluster stretchers and later webbing attached to barrel rails, the underside with fragmentary paper label printed 'THOMAS MILLS'

Thomas Mills is recorded in 1837 at 61 Market Street, Bradford, Yorkshire. His label appears on a related rosewood x-frame stool sold anonymously, Sotheby's, London, 15 July 1983, lot 31 (The Dictionary of English Furniture Makers, 1660-1840, Leeds, 1986, p. 611).
