BRESLAUER, Bernard H. (1918-2004). Historic & artistic bookbindings from the Bibliotheca Bibliographica Breslaueriana. Brussels: Bibliotheca Wittockiana, 1986.

Small 2o (293 x 200 mm). Fold-out color frontispiece and 75 reproductions (4 in color). Mosaic binding designed by Micheline de Bellefroid, executed in Brussels by Anne Thimmesch, grey crushed morocco, the covers decorated to a cubist pattern of green, grey, yellow, orange and black calf inlays, spine lettered in gilt, grey leather doublures, gilt edges, original wrappers bound in, chemise and slipcase.

THE AUTHOR'S OWN COPY IN A VERY SUCCESSFUL BINDING BY THE BELGIAN ARTIST, MICHELINE DE BELLEFROID. It is extra-illustrated with 15 color photographs of the exhibition by Steven Kasher, and has loosely inserted a manuscript list of errata and two characteristic autograph notes by the collector. This splendid exhibition and catalogue, with an introduction by Jean Toulet, first revealed to the world of bibliophily two unique qualities of the Breslauer Collection of bibliographies and catalogues: fine bindings and important association. BBB Harvard 58.
