Eagar, original printed blue wrappers preserved (wrappers rubbed and repaired with white tape along inner margins). Provenance: William [?]Mashell (pencil signature).
Sixth edition, identified as such and as "the Guide for 1853" on the front wrapper but not dated on the title-page. Goldman described this edition as "the rarest of all the Guides" in a pencil note to his own copy, "the only one I have ever seen in original covers" (see the sale of the Leslie Gutteridge Collection, Lawrences, 15 January 2004, lot 110).
