Lot Essay
The present dish is likely a sauce-tureen stand. Although unmarked, there is no question but that it belongs with the two plates in the previous lot. Of these, one is marked with an iron-red crown, crossed batons and D for Derby. The flowers on all three pieces are clearly painted by the same hand, with very definite yellow veins extending down the center of the leaves and clear veining throughout. The penmanship on all three botanic names is identical, as is the shade of blue used for the inscription.
