** A UNIQUE ART DECO NEPHRITE AND CORAL BOX AND COVER, BY CARTIER
The circular box and cover carved and pierced from matching translucent pale celadon material; the box decorated with a central "shou" character or "longevity" surrounded by five bats in flight amidst scrolling clouds, representing the rebus "wu fu" or "five blessings", the sides with evenly spaced Buddhist emblems of karp, parasol, vase and peony amidst foliage, further attached to a circular black enamel base secured by three carved coral knots; the domed cover similarly carved and pierced centering upon a shou character with wan-diaper surround, to the black lacquer rim and a carved coral cicada finial with diamond detail and black enamel support secured by a carved coral knot, mounted in gold, circa 1925, external diameter 9.4 cm, with French assay mark for gold, in a Cartier red leather fitted case
