Wang Junyi was born in 1974 in Guilin, a province in Guangxi. Since his childhood, he has developed a keen interest in art and carving. For more than ten years, he has devoted himself to the development of contemporary Chinese jade culture. By combining traditional Chinese jade carving skill with modern technique and Western art, he has formed his own unique style specialising in delicate curves, flawless surfaces and minute details.
In 2004, Wong won the gold prize in The Third National Prize for Contemporary Jade Carving - the "Celestial Craftsmanship Prize", and was also awarded the Most Creative prize, making him the youngest of all awarded jade masters.
