LEONARD, Charles Ernest, 1st BARON LYLE OF WESTBORNE (1882-1954). A scrap album titled 'Bournemouth Parliamentary Election 1945', containing correspondence, photographs, printed election material, telegrams and newspaper cuttings, each labelled in ink, including: Sir Winston Spencer CHURCHILL, typed letter signed to Lyle, 67 Westminster Gardens, 10 August 1945, and a telegram (1951); QUEEN MARY, typed letter signed by her Private Secretary (1945) and four telegrams May 1946 and 1947, November 1948 and 1951); Max BEAVERBROOK, telegram (February 1950); and a signed RYDER CUP Teams dinner menu, 22 October 1951 at the Waldorf Astoria. Industrialist, politician and international tennis player, Lyle's album, covering the period from 1945 to 1951, concerns his election as MP for Bournemouth, his peerage, Tate and Lyle and tennis.
