Oblong, the hinged cover chased with foliate scrolls on a matted ground, the base similarly chased and with a panel of strapwork, the cover inset with an oval portrait miniature of H.R.H. Prince Albert, within paste border, and applied on the angles with four further pastes, marked on cover
3 5/8 in. (9.2 cm.) long
Provenance
Presumably presented to George Byng Esq. M.P. (d.1847) by H.R.H. Prince Albert of Saxe-Gotha, on his marriage to Queen Victoria, 12 February 1840 and by descent.
