BIRMINGHAM, 1883, ONE MAKER'S MARK OVERSTRIKING ANOTHER
Oblong, the hinged cover engraved with a presentation inscription and facsimile signature, with a silver clasp, the interior leather-lined with compartments and containing a paper memorandum pad, marked on base and cover
4 1/8 in. (10.5 cm.) long
The inscription reads, 'To Colonel Byng in remembrance of London October 1894 from Henry Prince of Prussia'
Provenance
Presented to Colonel Byng, later Henry, 4th Earl of Strafford (1831-1899) by Prince Henry of Prussia (1863-1929) on his visit to London in 1894 and by descent.
