The fluted baluster body with a pierced rockwork-cast rim and flanked by scrolling foliate and flowerhead decorated handles, on a pierced scrolling foliate base, with a label 'ROYER, emballeur 14, rue du Cherche-Midi Paris-6e' inscribed '20', minor loss to one handle

Lot Essay

In its overall form with watery bulrush-wrapped handles and fluted celadon body, this vase resembles that in the Wallace Collection with mounts attributed to Jean-Claude Duplessis (c.1695-1774) (P. Hughes, The Wallace Collection Catalogue Furniture, II, London, 1996, no. 281 (F113).
