Alongside Morris's significant development of the neat overhead camshaft Minor in 1928, the company maintained an interest in large cars with variations of the Oxford, Major and Isis. This is an example of their 1931 Oxford, by which time most production had evolved to sidevalve engines.
"HY 1773" was originally registered with Bristol County Council on 11th March 1931, as confirmed by its V5 document, after which its history is not recorded. It can be presumed to have been on the road until around 1968, since it still wears a tax disc with that year of expiry.
Ostensibly the car is complete and bears all the hallmarks of the model from twin bar bumpers, to sliding sunroof and front and rear sliding windows, though the glass throughout the car has delaminated. The dashboard is complete with all its instrumentation.
A time-warp example, discovered after four decades of farm barn storage, the Morris is heavily rusted and represents project for complete restoration, however its completeness and originality should ensure that it is the perfect basis for such work.
