A French giant gilt-brass porcelain-mounted striking carriage clock
Attributed to Drocourt, retailed by James Muirhead & Sons, movement numbered 456. Circa 1870
The gorge case with large escapement viewing glass to the top, porcelain panels to the sides depicting lovers in a romantic landscape painted in the Sèvres style, the reverse of the panels numbered 456/909 and inscribed gauche and droite respectively and with artist's(?) signature, the porcelain dial also painted with romantic lovers in a landscape beneath the Roman chapter ring with blued steel hands and signature Jas. Muirhead & Sons Paris, the twin spring barrel movement with large silvered lever escapement platform with high quality wide diamater balance wheel, hour and half hour strike on a gong on the backplate numbered 456, the gong stand stamped E.A within an oval cartouche
