The movement by Margaine; case by F. Barbedienne; retailed by Paul Garnier. Circa 1870
The high quality multi-piece case stamped F. Barbedienne with gadrooned finial to the foliate cast domed top, arcaded cornice and fluted out-set columns, glazed side panels and rear door, the dial with foliate cast gilt mask around the silver dial with black enamelled Roman chapters and foliate cast and chased centre, blued steel hands, silver alarm disc below with enamelled Arabic chapters, the movement with twin spring barrels, platform lever escapement with strike and alarm on a gong on the backplate with maker's stamp for Margaine and numbered 5969, retail stamp for Paul Garnier
