A George III green japanned longcase clock
The hood with glazed side panels and giltwood capitals to the inset columns, the trunk door and plinth decorated with gilt chinoiserie, the 12 in. wide brass dial with bird and urn spandrels to silvered Roman and Arabic chapter ring with fleur-de-lys half hour markers, matted centre with subsidiary silvered seconds ring, square date aperture with cruciform engraved border, original blued steel hands, the arch with flat silvered disc signed Daniel Catlin/LYN, the eight day movement with four ringed pillars, anchor escapement, rack strike and trip repeat on bell; replaced seatboard and built up cheekboards, case probably associated to dial and movement, circa 1730 -- 84½ in. (215 cm.) high
