A George III mahogany and inlaid longcase clock
The hood with bellflower inlays and chequer-strung columns with Corinthian capitals, the 13 in. wide painted dial with rose spandrels to Roman and Arabic chapter ring with dot minute track, the centre with subsidiary seconds ring, arch date aperture and signed W. Gardner/Brigg, engraved brass hands, the arch with rolling moon, with false plate to the eight day movement with four pillars, anchor escapement and rack strike on bell; later and built up seatboard, possibly associated to case, circa 1790 -- 90½ in. (230 cm.) high
