A FINELY MOUNTED KOTO KATANA
Signed Morishige saku, Muromachi Period (Early 15th Century)
The blade honzukuri, iorimune, koshizori with chu-kissaki, forging pattern ko-itame hada with masame, ji-nie, tempered edge ko-midare of nioi with ko-nie, ashi and yo, ko-maru boshi, machi-okuri nakago, 68.5cm., in shirasaya and with its katana koshirae comprising black lacquer saya, matching shakudo nanako fuchi-kashira, kogai, kozuka all decorated in gilt takazogan with shells, gilt menuki formed as three shells, shakudo nanako tsuba pierced in yo and kage sukashi with stylized clouds and geese in flight, gilt rim, signed Takahashi Masatsugu, 19th century
