A 1928 Gibson UB3 Banjolele, maple body, the fingerboard and body bound with ivoroid purfling, 17 fret fingerboard with mother-of-pearl snow flake inlay with nickel-plated parts, Grover tuning pegs and calf skin head; and a black hardshell contour case with purple velvet lining; accompanied by three colour snap-shots including George Harrison with the vendor; and various members of the Ukulele Society of Great Britain with George Harrison -- the Banjolele given to Ray Bernard by George Harrison at George's home Friar Park, Henley-On-Thames in 1996 (4)

Lot Essay

According to the vendor this Gibson banjolele had been part of George Harrison's collection since the early 1990s. The vendor recalls that it was used by Harrison in his studio at Friar Park for his private recordings of George Formby classics.
