A RARE GREYISH-GREEN JADE ALTAR OFFERING DISH
LATE MING DYNASTY, 17TH CENTURY
Made in three sections, the shallow dish carved in the center as a lotus pod encircled by a narrow band of petals, all below a row of petals that rise to the rim and form the sides of the exterior above a band of down-turned petals, the underside with a countersunk center to accomodate the top of the zun-form support carved with taotie masks in the rounded center and with scroll-filled blades above and below, the bottom of this section fitting into the countersunk center of the domed base carved with a band of petal lappets, the semi-translucent stone of grey-green tone suffused with fine opaque white and black speckling
