Kangxi period bowls of this design, which are based on earlier Ming dynasty prototypes, appear to be quite rare. For a Chenghua example see the bowl excavated at the site of the Ming imperial kilns at Jingdezhen in Jiangxi province, included in the exhibition, A Legacy of Chenghua, The T. T. Tsui Museum of Art, Hong Kong, 1993, pp. 334-5, no. C123. Two Wanli-marked bowls of this pattern have been published; one in the collection of the National Palace Museum, Taipei, is illustrated in Good Fortune, Long Life, Health and Peace: A Special Exhibition of Porcelains with Auspicious Designs, Taipei, 1995, p. 81, no. 7; the other is illustrated in Porcelains in Polychrome and Contrasting Colours - 38 - The Complete Collection of Treasures of the Palace Museum, Hong Kong, 1999, p. 205, no. 187.
