DATED RENSHEN YEAR (1812)
Of flattened, elongated ovoid form, enamelled on one side with a green blossoming orchid plant issuing from rockwork and flanked by poetic inscriptions in white enamel, the reverse with various inscriptions written in white and green enamel, the base impressed with a two-character seal, stopper
3 1/16 in. (7.8 cm.) high

Lot Essay

A similar bottle dated to 1816, formerly in the collection of B. C. Stevens is illustrated by R. R. Holden, Rivers and Mountains Far from the World, New York, 1994, p. 245, no. 106.

One of the inscrptions appearing on the present lot indicates it may have been painted in Yudian county in Anhui province.
