An early 18th-Century brass Augsburg equinoctial compass sundial,
signed on the underside of the compass box L. Grassl with latitudes for Corfu, Lyon, Bozen, Riga and Edinburgh, the chapter ring with hours III-XII, I-IX and sprung gnomon, the folding latitude arm graduated 2-88°, the octagonal horizontal plate with foliate and geometric decoration and glazed compass with silvered dial, four cardinal points and blued-iron needle, in a silk-lined and leather-covered shaped card case with brass hook and eye (hinge split) -- 6.1cm. (2 3/8cm.) wide
