An 18th-Century brass universal equinoctial sundial,
signed on the underside of the compass box Lorez Graßl with the latitudes of ten cities and Mexico, the shaped chapter ring with hours III-XII, I-IX and sprung gnomon, the folding latitude arm graduated 2-88°, the horizontal plate with plummet in a pierced and scroll-shaped folding support, the glazed compass within a thirty-two point wind direction ring with German initials and surmounted by a folding wind vane support (no vane), the silvered dial with four cardinal points initialled in Latin and a blued-iron needle, the corners of the plate with scroll and foliate decoration -- 8.4cm. (3¼in.) wide
