Third quarter of the 17th Century
With 16th Century long flat double-edged blade stamped with the inscriptions 'I.O.H.N.B.E.L.L' and 'I.N. L.O.N.D.O.N.I' segmented by a series of crescent moon mask marks within the short fuller on both sides, and struck with further brief Latin inscriptions including the phrase 'Memento Mori', drooping quillons with rear-turned tips, large iron pommel cast with tall design baroque scrollwork in high relief, and spirally moulded wooden grip
