A CASED PAIR OF PERCUSSION PISTOLS SIGNED ADAMS, LONDON
circa 1830
With rebrowned twist octagonal sighted barrels each inscribed 'London', scroll engraved case-hardened patent breeches, scroll engraved case-hardened breech tangs each with back-sight, signed engraved case- hardened locks (one hammer detached, the retaining screw broken), figured walnut half-stocks, chequered butts, engraved blued steel mounts (refinished) silver escutheons and fore-end caps, brass-tipped ramrods (one incomplete), and blued triggers, Birmingham proof marks: in fitted mahogany case lined in green velvet (patches of wear, some walls loose, one compartment lid missing) the lid (cracked) with flush-fitting circular handle, and with some accessories
