A framed Continental ivory hinged panel depicting Dante's ascension to Paradise**
Second half 19th Century
The panel hinged to fold down the centre, carved in low relief with Virgil, Dante and Beatrice, the reverse with paper label inscribed #6. Dante + Beatrice/cost 1000 francs/18th century/Best of Moritz Keller & Co Lucerne, within a moulded wood frame, the reverse with a label inscribed Hearn Collection #39
The Ivory: 11¾ in. (30 cm.) high; 8 in. (20.4 cm.) wide
