2° (465 x 283mm). 73 engraved plates, comprising 8 plates of coats-of-arms, double-page map of Gloucestershire, and 65 double-page plates by and after T. Kip. Text in double column. (Occasional light browning to plates, some offsetting to text.) Contemporary diced russia, gilt roll-tool borders with fleuron at corners, gilt spine compartments with morocco lettering-piece, gilt edges, marbled endpapers (light scuff marks on covers).
FINE LARGE-PAPER COPY of the second edition. Thomas Kip's views of country seats, first published in 1712, make this one of the best known topographical works of the eighteenth century. The portrait of the author, included in the first edition, was omitted from the second. Brunet I, 539; Upcott I, p. 250.
