A PAIR OF MEISSEN PORTRAIT BUSTS OF CHILDREN
MID TO LATE 19TH CENTURY, BLUE CROSSED SWORDS MARKS, PAINTED AND INCISED NUMERALS
After originals by J. J. Kaendler, modelled as Prince Louis Charles de Bourbon and Princess Marie Zepherine de Bourbon, both quarter-length, the Prince wearing a plumed cap painted with flowers on a yellow ground and edged in gilding, tied with a blue ribbon, with a posy in his puce sash and a brown diaper pattern jacket, the Princess with a headscarf painted with monochrome sprigs, with a posy in her turquoise flowered bodice and a pink drape, both on oval bases moulded and gilt with C-scrolls (she with footrim chip to base, he with restored blue ribbon and plume, retouching to gilt cap, slight chipping to each posy, minor staining)
