A PAIR OF MEISSEN ALLEGORICAL GROUPS
LATE 19TH CENTURY, BLUE CROSSED SWORDS MARKS, INCISED F.63, IMPRESSED NUMERALS
After originals by M.V. Acier, modelled as 'The Broken Bridge' and 'The Broken Eggs', the first group modelled as a gallant and companion, the gallant modelled stooping supporting his female companion, wearing a plumed Macaroni wig, blue flowered overskirt, apron and skirt, garlanded with flowers, before them a broken bridge with an attendant Cupid scattering roses, the second group with a lady standing with her hands crossed at her breast, turning away from a seated older companion, both wearing wigs and flowered clothes, an upturned basket of eggs at her feet before a kneeling Cupid, with a putto hiding in the flounces of the standing figure's skirt, both on rockwork mounds above oval gadrooned base (minor chipping and restoration)
